The Belvedere Mansion
The property was built in 1927 and has since been inhabited by 4 generations of descendants of its builders, the family of Ernest Sohn. In 2001 the owners decide to sell the property, and the mansion's doors, windows, stained glass and stairs were removed. Deprived from its original features and original luxury, in January 2003, Paulo Goya, an actor and then President of the civil organization Espaço Cultural Dona Julieta Sohn, responsible for managing the Mansion's artistic projects, and heir of the property, suggested that the family turned the property into a cultural space.
In its many years housing cultural activities, the Mansion has received and hosted theater projects, concerts, events, served as a place for the implementation of artistic and social projects, as well as for numerous photographic and cinematographic projects of several contemporary Brazilian artists.
For Cristina, Yuri and Giuliano, it was an incredible discovery. Right in the heart of São Paulo, close to major avenues, malls and modern buildings, a mansion of almost 100 years endures, with its various rooms and spaces to be explored. And contributing to continue to give life to it became a kind of mission for the creators of Ao Vivo no Casarão.
